Man falls to death at CPS unit in south Texas | Bryan/College ...

SAN ANTONIO -- An accident at a CPS Energy power plant left a 27-year-old contract worker dead.

The Bexar County medical examiner's office pronounced the man dead early Tuesday.

CPS Energy spokesman John Moreno says the accident happened around 11:45 p.m. Monday when the man fell about 30 feet at the unit on Calaveras Lake.

Moreno told the San Antonio Express-News that the man was working on the JK Spruce II project, as an employee of Calaveras Power Partners. His name was not immediately released.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate.

About 1,400 Calaveras Power Partners employees are working on the plant, which is set to be operational in early 2010. Theeagle.com is pleased to offer readers the ability to comment on stories.
